How many times would you try to visit a place from your wishlist?
It was my third approach to visiting Colmar, the first time was ruined by sickness, the second time some other personal stuff but finally in November this year we decided to give it another try and visit Colmar.
Did we get there without any troubles? Of course not.
We boarded the train from Zurich to Basel early in the morning. On the way we bought the ticket to Colmar, super excited about the visit, as it was planned years before. Just after buying a ticket, I got the message that our train was canceled and we had to ask the train service in Basel for further instructions. The thought was only one… it’s a curst of Colmar and maybe it’s not given us to travel there at all.
The person from the SNCF service informed us that our ticket was still valid for the next train in 1h. After an hour strolling through Basel, we finally board a train together with hundreds of people wanting to visit Colmar. It was a huge relief after trying to visit Colmar so many times. Christmas spirit was with us.
Colmar is a city located in the Grand Est region of France and is known for its beautiful architecture, charming streets, and festive atmosphere. It took only 40 minutes to get there by train from Basel.
During the holiday season, Colmar is transformed into a winter wonderland. The Old Town is decorated like a fairy tale.
The markets are filled with local crafts, food, and drink, and there are plenty of activities for children and adults.
One of the most popular markets is the Marché de Noël Place des Dominicains, located in the city’s heart. Here you can find a wide variety of local products, including wine, cheese, and gingerbread.
Stroll through the city’s charming streets and admire the beautiful decorations.
Christmas in Colmar is a magical experience that you won’t forget. I can’t wait to revisit it in springtime.
